Abu Dhabi June hotel occupancy highest since start of pandemic
Abu Dhabi hotels reported their highest occupancy in June since before the pandemic started last year.
The preliminary data for June showed occupancy rate of 68.5%, the absolute highest for any month in Abu Dhabi since February 2020, according to hospitality industry research company STR.
Revenue per available room, or RevPAR, of 219.18 dirhams ($60) was the market's highest since February 2021, STR said on Tuesday (July 13).
Average daily rate was 319.95 dirhams.
"Year-over-year percentage increases are substantial because of the comparison with the months most affected by the pandemic in 2020," said the company.
UAE has been gradually easing travel restrictions for both incoming and outgoing travelers as it continues its speedy vaccination roll-out in a bid to fully re-open tourism activities.
