Abu Dhabi rolls out pilot phase of new tourism quality standards and licensing framework

Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism is rolling out the pilot phase of its new tourism quality standards and licensing framework.

DCT Abu Dhabi said in a statement on Tuesday (April 20) the full framework will be implemented later this year.

Nawal Rashid Al Hassani, DCT Abu Dhabi’s executive director of strategy and planning sector, said the authority is encouraging tourism businesses to implement a minimum standard for quality in line with international metrics.

The new framework includes ten quality standards manuals to be used by tourism products, attractions and services across the emirate.

The authority did not give any details of what these standards are but said they were developed to support growth of the tourism sector by “enhancing visitor experience and creating a transparent business environment”.

The framework was designed with input from more than 80 international sources, and feedback from stakeholders during consultation sessions, said DCT Abu Dhabi.
