Brazil halal certifier CDIAL recognition renewed by Singapore’s MUIS

Brazil’s CDIAL’s recognition as a foreign halal certification body by the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) has been renewed.

MUIS confirmed with Salaam Gateway in an email on Friday (May 8) that it recognizes CDIAL as a foreign halal certification body for the categories of meat, poultry and processed food.

Singapore imported $259.34 million worth of poultry and $342.21 million in meat, excluding swine, from Brazil in 2019, according to data from the U.N. ITC Trade Map. It is not known how much of these are halal-certified.

CDIAL Halal Executive Director Ali Saifi said on the certifier's website that Singapore is a good channel for the redistribution of halal products to Islamic markets in Asia.

CDIAL on Apr 22 was approved by the GCC Accreditation Centre to certify seven categories of foods.
