Dubai government approves 57.1 bln dirhams budget for 2021
The Dubai government budget for 2021 has been approved for 57.1 billion dirhams ($15.55 billion), the emirate’s media office reported on Sunday (Dec 27).
Non-oil public revenues are expected to reach 52.314 billion dirhams and oil incomes are expected to account for 4% of total projected revenues for next year.
The government’s initial estimate puts GDP growth at 4% next year, supported by what it says will be a “continued recovery of economic activities”.
The Dubai government approved a budget of 66.4 billion dirhams for 2020 compared to 56.8 billion for 2019. Actual spending for 2020 was not announced.
“The 2021 budget comes in response to the requirements for recovery and dealing with the postponement of Expo 2020 Dubai,” said Arif Abdulrahman Ahli, Executive Director, Planning and General Budget Sector at the emirate’s department of finance.
Expo 2020 was postponed from October 20, 2020 - April 10, 2021 to October 1, 2021 - March 31, 2022.

- Security, justice and safety: 22%
- Infrastructure and transportation: 41%
