Eid al Adha: UAE authorities clarify prayers, livestock sacrifice, family visits

The UAE National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority clarified on Wednesday (July 22) safety and precautionary measures for Eid al Adha this year.

Eid al Adha prayers will be performed at home as mosques will only increase their worshipper capacity, to 50%, from August 3. Safe distancing measures and other precautionary steps must still be adhered to, reported state news agency WAM citing NCEMA’s Dr. Saif Al Dhaheri.

Eid al Adha falls on July 31 this year.

To mark the Eid feast of sacrifice, donations and livestock sacrifices should be to official charitable causes in the country only. They are to be made through smart apps or through designated slaughterhouses by the local authorities.

NCEMA also cautioned against family visits and gatherings over the Eid holiday period, saying they should be replaced using electronic means.

UAE’s Federal Authority for Government Human Resources on Wednesday announced a four-day Eid al Adha holiday starting Thursday, July 30 to Sunday, August 2.
