Islamic Development Bank issues bigger sustainability sukuk in second offering
The Islamic Development Bank sold a $2.5 billion sustainability sukuk on Wednesday (March 24), Reuters reported citing a document issued by one of the banks on the deal.
The sale was $1 billion bigger than the bank's debut sustainability sukuk issued in June 2020.
The new five-year sukuk, priced at 33 basis points over mid-swaps, received more than $2.65 billion in orders, said Reuters.
The sukuk can finance green or social projects, under the IDB's sustainable finance framework.
The AAA-rated multilateral first sold a green sukuk, of 1 billion euros, in November 2019, also under its sustainable finance framework.
