Saudi Arabia imposes seven-day quarantine for unvaccinated arrivals from May 20

Saudi authorities will require foreign arrivals to quarantine for seven days if they are not vaccinated against the coronavirus, according to a Ministry of Interior statement on Monday (May 10).

The quarantine requirement starts May 20.

Foreign citizens will pay for the quarantine period as part of their flight tickets, with airlines asked to contract accommodation approved by the tourism ministry.

They are also required to carry a valid health insurance policy to cover COVID risks.

Unvaccinated arrivals over the age of eight must present a negative PCR test result that is not older than 72 hours from when they departed.

Fully vaccinated travellers who can produce a vaccination certificate are not required to quarantine.

Saudi citizens, flight crews and diplomats who are unvaccinated will be required to quarantine at home.

Saudi Arabia is slowly reopening after largely shutting its borders since March last year. Authorities are set to allow citizens to travel abroad from May 17.
