Saudi government shakes up ministries with new appointments, including for hajj and umrah
Saudi Arabia on Friday (March 12) announced a series of new appointments at a handful of ministries, including for hajj and umrah.
In a series of tweets, state news agency SPA said Dr. Muhammad Saleh bin Taher Benten was relieved of his duties as minister for hajj and umrah.
Dr. Essam bin Saad bin Saeed replaces Dr. Benten as Minister of Hajj and Umrah. He is also Minister of State and Member of the Council of Ministers.
Other key appointments include Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Duaji as the new Chairperson of the General Authority of Civil Avation, which is a ministerial position. He replaces Abdul Hadi bin Ahmed bin Abdul Wahhab Al Mansouri, who has become the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The other new appointments are Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz Al-Arifi as assistant to the minister of transport, Maher bin Abdulrahman bin Ibrahim Al-Qasim as deputy minister of human resources and social development for the civil service, and Ali bin Suleiman bin Ali Al-Sa’awi as President of the Supreme Administrative Court.
No reasons were given for the dismissals and new appointments.
