Saudi’s SFDA to start national food safety monitoring programme
The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) is implementing a national programme for food monitoring and control, state news agency SPA reported on Sunday (June 7).
SPA cited SFDA CEO Dr. Hisham bin Saad Al-Jadhey as saying that the authority is preparing national programmes to monitor food pollutants to ensure food safety and compliance with technical regulations and standards.
The aim is to analyse 10,225 samples of more than 124 food products and detect 38 pollutants, reported SPA.
SFDA has inspected 51,756 food establishments, collected 29,645 samples and performed over 73,000 laboratory tests, SPA cited Dr. Al-Jadhey.
