Chocolate manufacturer Patchi has received halal certification from the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA), making it the first luxury chocolatier in the UAE to be halal-certified, Dubai Industrial Park said in a statement today.

Patchi UAE is based in the Dubai Industrial Park, a designated district within Dubai Wholesale City.

According to Saud Abu Al-Shawareb, Chief Operating Officer of Dubai Industrial Park, Patchi is the first company in the park’s halal cluster to receive ESMA halal certification.

A spokesperson for Patchi told Salaam Gateway the company is compliant with halal requirements in the UAE and in other countries.

However, Patchi UAE is the only one with halal certification and the company does "not yet have [halal] certification" in other countries.

"Patchi UAE exports from our Dubai-based manufacturing plant to other countries within our travel retail and franchising expanding portfolio, and the halal certification is one of the most valuable accreditations that would support our business developments in new markets," said the spokesperson.

Lebanon-based Patchi operates five chocolate factories across the Middle East and four other manufacturing divisions in Lebanon, including a printing house for the production of packages, a factory for the silver-plated line, the porcelain division, and the artificial flower division for the production of the company's accessories.
