What is the GDP contribution of the 57 Organisation of Islamic Cooperation countries?
The 57-member states and territories of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) contributed around $6.425 trillion to the world's gross domestic product (GDP) in 2016, according to data from the World Bank.
This is equivalent to 8.51 percent of the world's GDP.
The OIC countries with the ten highest GDPs are Indonesia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Iran, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Malaysia, Pakistan and Bangladesh, in descending order.Â
The OIC's contribution to world GDP is not proportionate to its population size.Â
The population of the 57 states and terrritories was around 1.769 billion in 2016, which is 23.77 percent of the world's people, according to World Bank data.Â
